Who is this program for?
This program is for individuals curious about angel investing and crowdfund investing. Investors that want to learn strategies for creating a well performing diversified portfolio of private investments into startups and small businesses.
How is the program delivered?
This is a live virtual workshop that will last 3 hours with intros, and breaks like a regular in person class.
It will be hands-on in that your instructor, Karen, will give you an assignment or task and allocate time for you to fill in your workbook or other activity.
It will be recorded and each student will receive a copy for their future review, along with a workbook.
What will I get when I complete the workshop?
You will have an understanding of the risks and rewards of angel and crowdfund investing and how to get started based on your financial goals. You will have a work book to refer back to and be invited to attend a future event if desired. NOTE: You will go through the steps to set up a crowdfund account and how to identify potential investments that match your criteria.
I'm not super wealthy, can I realistically participate in this type of investing?
Absolutely. Equity crowdfunding changed the equity investment game, and opened up this type of business ownership to all income levels. Whether you invest $200 and $2000 per company, the ROI is the same. Crowdfund investing is a good way to start small and as you gain confidence you can choose to invest more per company or expand your portfolio with more investments.
If you invest in the stock market or a 401k, you have the means to invest this way.
If you are just getting started with investment, crowdfund investing can be fun and rewarding.
Is there a difference between Crowdfund and Angel Investing?
Fundamentally they are the same. Both involve investing personal money into private companies as either debt or equity, where that money is expected to be used to grow the value of the company so that a return will come from that investment.
Functionally, they differ. Angel investing is private and typically done by high net-worth individuals directly or as a group in startups that have huge upside potential and significant risk. Crowdfund investing is done by soliciting the public for investment and is authorized through specific legislation, The JOBS Act of 2012. Three of the 4 methods of crowdfund investing allow for any investor, regardless of income, to invest, much like the stock market, but private.
In this workshop, you will learn fundamentals that are relevant to both types of investing, but for expediency of the practice sessions and assignments, crowdfunding will be used because of the accessibility.
I am an experienced angel investor, is there any benefit to me?
Of course. First you have the opportunity to refresh your skills and potentially learn something new and beneficial if you haven't been as successful as you expected as an angel investor. Karen's Angel Profitability Blueprint is different approach than has historically been the norm, and is designed to offset the inherent risk found in crowdfund and angel investing.
I cannot attend the whole session. Should I sign up anyway?
That is a good question. It is really up to you and your learning style.
If you want to have a live instructor to ask questions as you go, attending the live class would be necessary. If watching a replay with others' questions will work for you. Sign up, watch what you can, and set aside time to watch the full replay. You can always schedule a short call with Karen to answer any specific questions after you have watched the full webinar.
I've never really invested before, will I be overwhelmed?
Learning anything new can be overwhelming. There is no reason to be intimidated. Although 3 hours is not a 'mastery' course, the workshop and the tools, provided with your purchase, are designed to equip any one with stock market investment experience and/or general business sense, the fundamentals to begin investing this way. Karen helps her students build upon what they do know, the rest of it can be learned just like anything else new.
The Foundation for Angel & Crowdfund Investing training in The Compassionalist Academy is an option for those that desire additional training to master the art of crowdfund and angle investing.
